Susan Sarandon Bio
It was 1968. Democratic Convention, and there was a casting request for a film with a variety of roles for young actors who disrupted it. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had studied, was rejected. His wife Susan had a prominent role.That part was played by Susan Compton who was the daughter of an ad executive Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Next, Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot who works in an assembly line and collects guns, meets Susan. Five years later Sarandon plays the role in the film. Janet is a transvestite who gets involved with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). Sarandon was a fierce advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 years following her first appearance in the film. She flew at her own expense from Rome and Italy from Italy to Los Angeles. She stated "It was an amazing script... it eliminated a myriad of stereotypes and challenged the definition of success". "I attended the film studio along together with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his hot assistants before boarding the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, had already had two sons before 1992 which made Sarandon in a position in which she could leave home and take on difficult roles. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The award for the best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also awarded. Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
